Sardegna: Dorgali

I really like Dorgali. It’s a charming town just 10 miles from the sea — however, Mount Bardia/Monte Bardia stands between the two……the old town center is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. This area is characterized by twisting streets, courtyards, arches — all very evocative. The pink Chiesa di Santa Caterina is located here (make sure you check out the altar). Do visit the Museo Archeologico with artifacts from the local nuraghic sights. Speaking of nuraghic sights, head to Serra Orrios (just north of Dorgali — by about 6 miles). The sight dates back to the 10th century and has two temples and over 50 dwellings with a central hearth and well — very cool. Check out the grottoes along the coast too. Monday and Thursday are market days in Dorgali. There’s a daily market in Cala Gonone.
