PORTO ROCA — Via Corone 1 — Monterosso Al Mare 19016 - ph: 0187817502 fx: 0187817692 — www.portoroca.it - email: portoroca@cinqueterre.it

There are 43 rooms at this 4 star hotel (really a nicely kept villa) on the rocks above the Bay of Porticciolo (extraordinary views). It is one of the nicer hotels in the area (think lovely yet simple) and the rooms have all the comforts including views of the sea (most rooms have antiques) and bath, TV, phone, mini-bar and terraces or balconies. There’s a restaurant serving local specialties. Some of the most popular dishes are the homemade pasta with pesto, the antipasto buffet (to die for) and seafood (of course). The restaurant and terraces are great places to view the coastline or have a drink or a bite to eat. There’s a private beach (a mini-bus will take you to the sea) and a terrace (great for sunning) — it’s a nice place to relax. The bar is comfy and cozy. The Jacazzi family are very nice.

LOCANDA IL MAESTRALE - Via Roma 37 - Monterosso Al Mare 19016 - ph: 0187817013 fx: 0187817084 - www.locandailmaestrale.it - email: maestrale@monterossonet.com

For years I've been waiting to find a real treasure in Monterosso....Stefania and Giovanni have taken a 17th century palazzo and converted it into a really good B & B. They've utilized some of the architectural features as well as some frescoes and they just add to the beauty of this "gem". There are 6 rooms, two of which are suites (appropriately named Monterosso and Vernazza) and 3 doubles (named Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore)....and a single called the Cinque Terre.....the decor is lovely, warm, comfortable and each room is equipped with a private bathroom with shower, TV, phone, safe, minibar and hair dryer. There's a good buffet breakfast served (in the right weather) on the terrace where you can look out over the main road of Monterosso.

ALBERGO PASQUALE — Via Fegina 4 — Monterosso al Mare 19016 - ph: 0187817550 or 0187817477 fx: 0187817056 — www.pasini.com - email: pasquale@pasini.com

I’ve had several friends stay here and they love this 3 star hotel. It is well located — right in the center of town at the beach. It is one of the oldest hotels in town and looks out over the fishermen’s beach. The Pasini family own and run the hotel with care and attention to their guests. There are 16 rooms with bath, shower, TV, phone and panoramic sea views (air conditioning too). The rooms are nice — simple - comfortable. There is a restaurant and the food is tasty — Ligurian fare. The breakfast served is good.

The rooms are simple, pretty - almost elegant - attention has been paid to the decor - nice. Each room has private facilities, TV, hair dryer, safe and minibar. OUTSIDE CITY — VILLAS/FARMS

VILLANOVA — LocalitaVillanova — ph/fx: 0187802517

This villa and farmhouse are located a short distance from Levanto, but in an excellent position to enjoy the coast and Cinque Terre. The villa is red and white and the adjoining farmhouse is made of stone (with white mortar)……pretty — unique — old and evocative. There is a chapel that is very old and used on rare occasions. The villa/farm is run by the Massola family. The inside of this farm/villa is lovely and elegant. This is a great place to stay (even though only breakfast is served)…..an experience. At breakfast you are likely to get fresh fruit grown by Mr. Massola.
