Emilia-Romagna:
Castell'Arquato

Castell’Arquato is a chic medieval town with a pretty central piazza (Piazza Matteotti). I’m usually found right around the piazza enjoying a great lunch or an afternoon drink. Right on the Piazza is the Palazzo Pretorio (13th century basilica) with a museum in the cloister. This hilltop village is a great place to relax, wander and base out of — it’s really pretty here (there are wonderful views over the Arda Valley). The Rocca Viscontea/fortress (14th century) is on the Piazza del Municipio. Monday is Market day in Castell’Arquato.
