I
like Sorrento for its location (and beauty and shopping)
its a great base for daytrips to Pompeii, Herculaneum
and the Amalfi Coast. You can also get ferries to
Capri. I like Sorrento for the views, the shopping and the variety
of good restaurants in all price ranges. As for sights in Sorrento,
the Piazza Tasso is the main square in town its
really lovely in the evening (passagiata time). The Chiesa
di San Francesco (right near the Villa Communale) has
great views and an interesting cloister, rather Moorish in style.
The Basilica di San Antonino is very beautiful and worth
a look. The Museo Correale is a museum that
focuses on artifacts and art from the area. The Correale is located
a former villa with lovely gardens (think picnic). A stroll here
is a must after a long day of touring. Market day in Sorrento
is on Tuesday.
Massa Lubrense is a fishing village with
wonderful views, pretty churches and some great restaurants.
